Rain, rain, go away!!

It's June and it has rained nearly all month, in fact, since we went camping! Our village has flooded twice and has been on national news and we have MORE rain forecast for the weekend. Camping with friends is off!

So instead of sitting in the garden this evening enjoying a glass of vino I am sorting through my summer project from last year, which I did on my garden. As I am researching flowers, plants and all things natural for my first post-college project I thought I would dig into my old sketch books and post some of my stuff. First two are watercolour and third and fourth are drypoint.

Love in a mist!

My next door neighbour has given me some cuttings from her garden, here are my doodlings, juts trying out a few different styles.... I have a thing for flowers at the moment!

Finally feeling inspired!

Having had a bit of a break, with the holiday and the show, I thought it was about time I started to do something with myself and all the things I have learned over the last two years at college. Well, that is easier said than done...

A friend of mine asked me this week if I was interested in sharing a stand at the Patchings Christmas Fair, which is end of November. Yeah, great idea, sounds really good, can't wait! Then I had a reality check and thought about all the things that could go wrong, the first one being, not having anything to sell, which I think you will agree, will be a bit of a major issue! And also that I haven't a clue what I'm doing (but never mind that, I can pick it up as I go along!).

Anyway, 5 months to go, went into a bit of a panic-mode, mainly due to the fact I haven't got a single finished product, I immediately started trying to design some cards, and then got all stressed out 'cos they looked crap, and I got nothing accomplished by the end of the day.

So one pep talk from sister, inspiring chat with friends, and trip to local pottery fair later, I am feeling less like a headless chicken and more chilled about the whole thing. I am promising myself no more rushing things, (as they will look crap anyway, so it will be a waste of time), take my time and experiment with lots of ideas before I even begin to think about having something to sell. AND most of all, to enjoy the process!

See below, this afternoons efforts, playing around with the sewing machine, some watercolour paper and paints and some foxy foxgloves, et voila!!

Which one works the best, would love your comments.

Gone camping!!

This will be my last blog for a whole week, as we are off camping to North Yorkshire. We will possible even fit in aspot of house-hunting while we are there. The weather forecast has changed soo much this week, at one point I wondered if we would ever go, but today and tomorrow we have sun, sun, sun, which will go down nicely, thankyou!!

Jack our dog is coming with us too, I'm just looking forward to a week of relaxation and rest, lovely walks, pub lunches in the sunshine, and a spot of sketching of course.

See you when we return

More poppies

I seem to have a thing for poppies at the moment! They are all just about to come out in my garden. I'm not sure about these ones, having a bit of self-doubt today and thinking everything I have done is crap!! You know, one of those days!! Comments would be appreciated... and be brutal, I think they look too simple. The fox gloves are better

Poppies

Welsh poppies in the nextdoor neighbours garden (although I thought they were called California poppies??)
Now I have finished college (by the way, did I mention that?) I can spend my days off work doing non-project stuff, just because I can! I'm not so sure about these poppies, but I enjoyed doing them. I have also stitched some on the machine this afternoon to maybe use in my cards, but got a bit carried away with my water colour pencils instead when I was experimenting with colours.
I dropped a few hints and hopefully my neighbour will sprinkle some seeds over into our garden later in the year!!

Sneak Preview!!

My final show is up and ready to be marked and assessed! How nice to know it's all done, all I have to do now is write an evaluation of the project and send them a mugshot!

Time now to relax, enjoy the sunshine and stop thinking about college work and deadlines! Plus, weather permitting we are camping next week (no work for a whole week) in North Yorkshire, so I will be keeping fingers and toes crossed that the weather is good!
